[It's not too early when she gets ready. She almost forgot she even had the conversation to begin with, but one look at the phone and she remembers. She's thankfully gotten an outfit better than the robes they got from the supply crates, but it's still one of the cheaper things she could purchase. She's only taken an odd job here and there, short and... testing the waters, she supposes.
She doesn't see Akechi before she leaves, but they hardly need to tell one another where they're going. It's refreshing. He doesn't bother her as much like had at the camps.
The weave through the housing isn't awful; she's gotten used to it by now, and gets to the outside of them easily enough, hoping she hasn't kept him waiting.
(Part of her is regretting this, but the rest of her knows better. She shouldn't go back up alone.)]
[Junpei hasn't been waiting long, for the simple reason that he hasn't been waiting. He isn't there yet, actually, but not because he's forgotten. He remembers when he wakes up with his phone in his hand, and it takes him about 5 minutes to actually get ready to leave, but it definitely takes him a net 20 minutes to first get Snake to let him get up, then to keep him awake long enough to tell him what he's doing leaving the house in the sort-of-early morning.
It's a whole production and he doesn't even get breakfast. He's already tired again by the time he jogs up from house 9, but being tired is his default state, anyway.]
Hey—sorry. There, uh... there was a thing. Ready to go?
[She doesn't ask about what the thing was. Maybe under normal circumstances she'd give him a hard time, but as it is she simply looks up from her phone and offers a faint smile.]
I guess. Make a wish, go [fff she nearly says go to Thesa, which is a great start for the day. Her fumbling is short-lived.] through a phase.
[It's a thing about not getting a bagel for like the 5th day in a row. He'll get a bagel one day.]
Let's set our phasers to... jump? Uh, maybe not.
[He'll work on that one. Anyway, he gestures for them to walk a bit further. They can't suddenly teleport out of a populated area, that would defeat the whole purpose.]
[That's exactly what he thinks, which just makes him make a face and a noncommittal noise. He'll work on it...!
But once they get to an isolated enough spot, it's all he can do to stand there and watch her... think about it? Uh.]
I'm no teleporting expert, but let's try this... [He holds his arm out.] Probably should hold on, too.
[And so if it doesn't work, they'll just be standing here like idiots, but what else is new?] Try really focusing, and then at the last moment, just... move from here to there. [genius plan] Maybe think about whoever's still up there?
[SORRY. She would rather make her friends feel bad about themselves than appear ignorant--which speaks worlds about her social skills. Still, in the regards of teleporting, they're both ignorant.
So they are standing around like idiots, her holding onto him until it gets awkward. There's a joke in here somewhere about him wanting to just hold a girl's hands. She's too distracted this morning.]
Um...
[But then she actually thinks about what he's said. Her mind snaps to Dominic and focuses and that's what she needs--she's gone, with or without him she isn't sure, until she's stumbling back to the familiar Station.]
[He's used to casually being made fun of, it's fine, his self esteem doesn't take a huge blow from one failed pun. Besides, the issue at hand - standing here like morons while notably not teleporting - is more important.
Truth be told, he isn't taking his own advice. He's just describing something he can already do, SHIFTing - or, well, something he could do before the world exploded in probably more than one timeline - but trying to translate it to moving from one place to another instead of literal time travel. Working under the assumption that it will definitely work... he waits to see if she can make it happen before he even entertains the idea himself.
It would be rude to just leave her here? That's the logic. So he's left standing there a few seconds after she pops out of existence next to him, and takes another minute to follow. His aim is apparently off, since he wobbles into a wall before looking around. Aha.]
Alright, that's a lot cooler than I thought it'd be. [but yes, yes—] You okay?
[She's still getting her balance back. It was... unexpected. She's done a lot of maneuvering while aboard theEND, but still the changing between places... how do you compare that to anything?
She looks up at him and grins.]
That was fun! And it really worked! We're back on the Station! [She does a twirl.] I can't believe it!
[Oh, she's... having fun! That's good, he figures. It takes him a moment to get reoriented with being in space - there's artificial gravity, sure, but it feels just different enough from being on actual land that he needs to get his space legs back.
Fun stuff. Junpei does not twirl.]
Yeah, uh... we did it. [y...aaay] We should get moving, right?
[He says, as he's already started to shuffle in the direction of the pod room. He remembers where that is, for sure.]
She's glad he seems to know where he's going though. All the halls look the same to her, and she didn't explore a lot of the Station. Mess Hall (maybe she should get something to eat while they're up here?), Stasis Chambers, Sleeping Quarters.
And they were all disjointed in her mind, her memory hidden under multiple layers of stress.]
...Thank you, by the way. [She's only dragging her feet a little. She both wants to be here and doesn't. But she... has to?] For coming up here with me.
[Almost the opposite, Junpei knows where he's going for the same reason—stress. He didn't spend much time up here, but he made enough emotionally rattled trips down to this room that he knows the route like the back of his hand. Right, right, left—any mental map from Point A to a door, he's got down.
It's a relatively useless special talent, but there it is. He looks at her over his shoulder as he takes the lead, slowing his steps just a little. He'd like to get it over with, his own dramatic staring at some pods, but... maybe calming down will be better.]
Oh... yeah, of course. Uh, anytime you want, I can probably spare an hour.
[It's called splitting her focus. pure genius. Mess with Junpei, not think about Dominic and Eureka being in a constant frozen slumber.]
Oh! Do you get leftovers? [It doesn't sound too bad if there is free food after...] I've been helping around with small deliveries in the market, but I've been poking my head into The Silk Wyrms. Hoping to get my foot into the door!
[...oh she recognizes her surroundings more now. That's. That's swell.]
[He scoffs, and even rolls his eyes a little - thank you, that's so generous, allowing him to have a life. But ah, this really obvious suggestion...] I... never asked. I'll have to do that.
[He's just been sweeping this old guy's floors for pocket change and not trying to get free food, like a damn fool. They're coming up on the stasis room shortly, but hey, stalling to talk about their crappy day jobs is a great idea.]
[He has a picky jerk to feed at home, he won't be allowed to go hungry. Instant noodles have already been banned.]
As long as you don't tell the customers what idiots they are. [See that? Friendship bonding.
Junpei sees her abrupt change in expression and approaches the door himself instead, but doesn't go on ahead when the doors slide open. Once again, he looks at her over his shoulder, his tone softer.] Hey, uh... Do you need a minute?
That's going to be a hard one. [She really likes telling people when they're being idiots.
She shudders but tries to put on a brave face.] It isn't like this is the first time I've been here. [She snaps, but then she draws back, eyes down.] Sorry. It'll... be okay.
no subject
[Heh.]
It'd be alright
if you did
[jeez Anemone don't be weird]
I think you just... think on it really really hard? I don't want to try and then do it by mistake though.
no subject
and
look, you're probably going to want [he is sighing irl] space, right? at least to start.
[It won't be weird to stare at people in cold storage with an audience at all. Nope.]
i guess we'll have to find out tomorrow.
no subject
uh, yeah
[smooth]
I'm sure other people have had trouble trying to do it. Or looked weird trying.
[she's assuming other people have gone back. she can't be the only one that has the need to??]
no subject
don't do it]
i... guess? if it's just thinking hard about it, that's not bad.
no subject
I'll see you in the morning
[ish]
no subject
yeah. i'll meet you outside the houses.
[At some point. Good plan.]

Sorry Junpei.
She follows along after him, not stopping until there's no one around.]
Okay! [She puts her hands on her hips.] So..
[She closes her eyes and tries to think of the Thesa Station
but her mind wanders
and she's still there.]

[She tries to actually pay attention to her surroundings for once. Maybe she could draw herself a map sometime. Just basic guidelines.]
no subject
What, I can't have other things to do? I have a life. [weird concept] But for your information, yeah, I'm a working man now.
[Get ready for this one.]
I clean this old man's food stall. [He's too old to do it...]

Well, no, but I [just like pretty things!!] think maybe I could sell stuff alright?
