[A part of her would have been disappointed if she'd been asked for just the short answer.] On our world there was a species living alongside us known as the Scub Coral. They had merged with the land itself and they were hibernating.

The air was filled with "trapar" and that's the energy we used to fly.

It was believed that the trapar was the thoughts of the hibernating Scub. "A thought carries energy." No Scub, no trapar, no flight.
